twothirtyeight - Step Into The Light

"Don't be afraid. Step into the light.
Everyone here is a loser tonight.
We're all voting for that second chance.
I never learned that stupid dance.
I don't really want to change.
(No, I don't want to change.)
Come as you are, step into the light.
We're all prisoners here,
locked up by our minds.
Don't be afraid. Come sinner or saint
everyone here is a human tonight"

I don't know what you believe. For the most part I don't know what I believe. Odds are we probably don't believe the exact same thing. And you know what? Its not a big deal. Everyone believes different things. I know it might break your heart but even in Christianity a lot of people believe different things. And its okay to believe different things. Its cool if you take the Bible literally, I hope its cool with you if I take it more figuratively (I think thats right word). Can't we both agree there's a few things that no one should stand for. What are a couple of those? Racism, homelessness, social injustices etc. Shouldn't we all fight for the rights of our fellow men (and women)? As a Christian you should at least tolerate if not attempt to love everyone. I mean what the fuck is the deal with that God Hates Fags church. My God doesn't hate homosexuals. If your God hates them then maybe we don't have the same God? Don't use religion as a way to oppress your neighbors. Thats such a cop out. Couldn't you at least be more honest about why you hate people of other races, sexual orientation, political beliefs etc? Tolerance, learn it. I think a Jeffy Korea song could sum up this post best: "do people really think if Jesus lived today- he'd buy an SUV and picket against gay people- standing on a steeple- shouting lets reprimand them, then we can damn them" I don't know about you but I don't.

Listen to Shirley Phelps Roper, daughter of Westboro Baptist Church pastor, make a complete fool of herself and her ideals.

take offs and landings

Clouds and peaks, don't sleep in much. Sex on the beaches, snow flakes and camera flashes. Ride, and ride, and ride, laugh. Tall buildings, people look just like ants. Free bus rides, and not so free bus rides. Outer lying suburbs where the fountain of youth flows from the mountains to 12 oz bottles. More riding, sunsets. Mexican food and cliff divers, genius. Irish spirit and car bombs, crowded bars with poor service. VIP areas with posh couches, beer spilled everywhere. Real World. Cute rocker chicks, google. Knowledge is power, no actions = no reactions. Txt msg, few responses. Ride, ride, listen to music, more riding. Towering rocks, extreme heights. Expensive beer. Rich foreign snobs. Thought about how it must feel to live in an extremely poor country and be the top 1% with money. Fast food, soda, motherfucking Good Times (sung in a high voice).  Favorite hat got lost, blame it on hoochies. Kissing cousins, 3 men to a bed. Car rides, floating in giant hot tubs. Old European men in blue speedos. Rendezvous with old friends. Saw cartoon cities come to real life. Thought about letting Ryan Adams sing me to sleep. Waxed poetics with a curbside evangelist, left feeling just as discouraged. Discussed love, life and loss. Toasted to good friends, family, and memories. Partied, thought about getting in shape, finally decided to sleep in. Probably should've ended up in jail. Take offs and landings, the circle remains unbroken.

politics

so unlike a lot of my peers i don't hate george. i tend to think that he's probably not too bad of dude. i think that if he weren't some over privileged kid he be cool to hang out with. i mean, i like that he stutters over all of his phrases like i do. but today i heard an interesting thing while listening to the radio.  kinky friedman on kfan was talking about the president. on the president as a good leader... "he (bush) put the party first, (and) the great leaders of the country never put the party first." on bush being evil..."he's not evil, you dance with who brung ya, and carl rove brung him... so when it comes to something like stem cell research george bush knows better. he knows better than to veto stem cell research, he knows better than that, he's smatter than that, he's a better man than that, but he didn't, he pandered to the political right." (by the way i STRONGLY support stem cell research... more on that later)

the people that a president surrounds themselves with are the ones who will essentially make the presidency (as they develop policy etc.). our current president just chose to listen to the bad ones that he surrounded himself with (rove etc.). hopefully whoever is the next president will do a better job at that.

but i wasn't a polisci major so does my two cents really matter? no because i'm too well educated in the whole matter.

post secret

have you ever read something that you weren't supposed to. not that it was a secret or anything like that, it was just something that wasn't written for your eyes? i just stumbled upon one of those and it made me smile, and then a little sad, then smile again.

girl vocals

One thing you need to know about me (and if you read this you probably do know) I'm the biggest sucker in the world for girl vocals. Over the past few years there have been three vocalists (well four technically I guess) that have been driving me crazy, in a good way. *insert knucks to a-bombers and g-rot* Those chicks are:Tegan and Sara, Jenny Lewis, and Emily Haines.

Well after much thought and deliberation I've decided that my favorite female vocalist is.....(drum roll please)......Emily Haines.

Here's my reasoning. Here voice is a little raspy, kinda contemplative, and a whole lot of sexy. Seriously, when she sings these words it makes knees go weak: "satisfy myself, avoid beginners who long to shut my mouth, till i take one of them home, cause i know how it feels, filling in the blanks, looking on the bright side, when there is no bright side, coming in your pants, for the off chance of a poster of a girl." Like what? She can also just flow seamlessly from pop rock diva, faux punk rocker, and sensitive Tori Amos type stuff. And, I'd let her take me home

Dig it.
